When you’re a small business, there’s no need to hire an entire marketing team either in house or outsourced.
Often you can get away with doing some of the fundamentals yourself. Doing so lets you save some much needed cash, understand what it takes to create marketing assets, and also gives you experience to draw upon when you finally do outsource or delegate to a new hire.
One thing small companies often neglect is consistent branding.
If you’re not careful, you’ll have 20 variations of your logo, colors, off-brand ads, and a whole big branding mess to clean up later which can hurt your business in the long run. Thankfully there are simple tools that help you keep your brand consistent, especially across social media channels.
How to execute this growth tip
Social media is mostly about building awareness around your brand where people are used to looking at family photos, cats, friends' videos, etc, so your message about your business needs to be punchy and entertaining.
Decide what that message should be and how you want to portray it on each social platform. Keep in mind the purpose of the social platform and match your designs to fit that platform, i.e., Instagram should be photo centric, Facebook should be more post centric or video, LinkedIn should be more professional, etc.
Create your first round of graphics using one of the tools below. I recommend Canva to start, as it's easy to use and comes with pre-sized templates for each social platform. Make sure your design includes your logo, imagery consistent with your brand, and other marketing materials.
Upload all your images to each account or if you can swing the cost, use a tool like Buffer or Hootsuite to post your images for you. You can upload them all to one platform once and then publish them each individually.
